Richard Lappin is President of Lisco Development, a New England based owner and manager of residential and commercial real estate. The company owns two residential properties in Rhode Island totaling 638,000 square feet. In addition, the company owns and manages six retail centers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island totaling more than 150,000 square feet. Lisco is headquartered in Providence, RI.
Mr. Lappin founded Lisco Development in 1983 to develop, acquire and manage residential and commercial properties. Today, the company is distinguished by the sustained history of its family owned shopping centers, where they are long time fixtures in their communities. In the past 10 years, Lisco Development has redeveloped and repositioned each of these properties. The tenant rosters remain reflective of their communities and the properties are cornerstones of their local economies. In addition to managing retail properties, Mr. Lappin owns and manages with Chestnut Hill Realty Corp. 574 units in two residential apartment communities in Rhode Island.
Previously, Mr. Lappin was Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Development at Housing Innovations in Boston, Massachusetts, where he managed the development of both rehabilitated and newly constructed housing in Massachusetts and California. This included the restoration and conversion of two National Register of Historic Places buildings in Oakland and Los Angeles, California to 614 residential apartments.
Mr. Lappin is the Founder and Acting Executive Director of The Providence Promise, an initiative to make post high-school education affordable for all Providence public school students. Mr. Lappin is also a Trustee and an Executive Board Member of the Providence Foundation and Secretary and Board Member of the Providence Downtown Improvement District, where he served as Chairman from 2011-2016.
Mr. Lappin graduated from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor of Administration degree and from Columbia University with a Masters of Business Administration.
